Alberto Giacometti was a famous Swiss sculptor, draftsman and painter. He is best known for his elongated sculpture figures, chiseled portraits and probing monochromatic paintings. Mini biography: Born Alberto Giacometti on the 10th of October, 1901 in Borgonovo, Stampa, Graubünden, Switzerland. His mother was Annetta Stampa and his father Giovanni Giacometti was a well known and respected professional painter. Giacometti married Annette Arm in 1940. His brother Diego Giacometti sat for many portraits and was a sculptor and designer. The artist died on the 11th of January, 1966 in Chur, Graubünden, Switzerland at the age of 64.
