Arthur Streeton was a famous Australian Impressionist artist associated with the Heidelberg School group of painters. He is best known for his depictions of the Australian landscape. Famous Arthur Streeton artworks include “Golden Summer, Eaglemont,”, “Sunlight Sweet, Coogee”, “Fire’s On”, “The Spirit of the Drought”, “The Railway Station, Redfern”, “Near Heidelberg”, “Land of the Golden Fleece”, “The Purple Noon’s Transparent Might” and “Still Glides the Stream, and Shall for ever Glide”.
Mini biography: Born Arthur Ernest Streeton on the 8th of April, 1867 in Mount Duneed, Victoria, Australia. His mother was Mary Johnson and his father was Charles Henry Streeton. Streeton married the Canadian violinist Esther Leonora “Nora” Clench in 1908 and they had one child together: Charles Ludwig Oliver Streeton. The artist died on the 1st of September, 1943 in Olinda, Victoria, Australia at the age of 76. Sir Arthur Ernest Streeton is buried at the Ferntree Gully Cemetery, Ferntree Gully, Knox City, Victoria, Australia.
