Jacob Lawrence is a famous 20th Century African-American artist who depicted black culture and the struggles of black people in America.
Mini biography: Born Jacob Armstead Lawrence on the 7th of September, 1917 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, United States of America which makes him a Virgo Painter as he's born in the month of September. His parents were Southern migrants: Mother Rosa Lee and father Jacob Lawrence. He was married to the Bridgetown, Barbados born artist Gwendolyn Clarine Knight from 1941 until the artist’s death.
Jacob Lawrence died from lung cancer on the 9th of June, 2000 at the age of 82. His wife Gwendolyn lived a further five years after Lawrence's death, when she died in 2005 at the age of 91.
