Diego Giacometti was a famous Swiss sculptor and furniture designer. He is best known for his furniture designs that usually featured animals or nature with frogs, leaves, owls, dogs, deer and birds. Famous Diego Giacometti artworks include “Hommage à Böcklin“, “Ostrich”, “Chat Maître d’Hôtel”, “La Rencontre”, “Guéridon Aux Harpies”, “La Promenade Des Amis”, “In Memory of the Dog Bucky (low table)”, “Toad Table”, and “‘Trapézoïdale’ low table”.
Mini biography: Born Diego Giacometti on the 15th of November, 1902 in Borgonovo, Stampa, Graubünden, Switzerland. His mother was Annetta Stampa and his father Giovanni Giacometti was a well known and respected professional painter. He was the brother of artist Alberto Giacometti who he shared a studio with and sat to be painted and sculpted numerous times. The artist died of a heart attack on the 15th of July, 1985 in Paris, France at the age of 82. He is buried at the Cimitero di Borgonovo, in Borgonovo, Bezirk Maloja, Graubünden, Switzerland.
