His mother was Marie Soukup and his father Adolf Schiele was a train station master. Schiele married Edith Harms in 1915. She was six months pregnant when she died of the Spanish flu on the 28th October 1918, just days before Schiele himself died of the same thing. The artist died on the 31st of October, 1918 in Vienna, Austria at the age of just 28. Schiele is buried alongside his wife at the Friedhof Ober Sankt Veit cemetery, Ober-Sankt-Veit, Wien Stadt, Vienna (Wien), Austria.
