Erich Heckel was a famous German painter and printmaker associated with Die Brücke (The Bridge) group and the Expressionist art movement. He is best known for his bold and expressive paintings and graphic works, especially his woodcuts. The artist died on the 27th of January, 1970 in Radolfzell, West Germany at the age of 86. Erich Heckel is buried at the Friedhof Hemmenhofen, Gaienhofen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
