Georges Seurat was a famous French pointillist painter and draftsman associated with the Post-Impressionism art movement. He is best known for his paintings that used dots and dashes of pure color to create a harmonious image. Mini biography: Born Georges-Pierre Seurat on the 2nd December 1859 in Paris, France. His mother was Ernestine Faivre and his father Antoine Chrysostome Seurat was a property investor. Seurat had a relationship with the artist model Madeleine Knobloch whom he painted in Jeune femme se poudrant. They had one child die at birth and the other (Pierre-Georges) died just weeks after Seurat died. The artist died on the 29th of March, 1891 in Paris, France at the age of 31. Georges Seurat is buried at the Père Lachaise Cemetery, Paris, France.
