L. S. Lowry was a famous English painter and draughtsman. He is best known for his urban landscapes and industrial scenes peopled with “matchstick men” and society going about everyday life. He holds the record of having turned down the most British honours (five) during his lifetime, including a knighthood in 1968. Famous L. S.
