Max Pechstein was a famous German painter and printmaker associated with the Expressionists and the Die Brücke or The Bridge art movements. He is best known for his bold and expressive figure groups, portraits, landscapes and his woodcut prints. Mini biography: Born Hermann Max Pechstein on the 31st of December, 1881 in Zwickau, Germany. Pechstein married Charlotte Karpolat in 1911 and they were divorced in 1923. They had a son: Frank Pechstein. He married his second wife Marta Möller in 1923 and they had a son: Max. The artist died on the 29th of June, 1955 in West Berlin, Germany at the age of 73. Pechstein is buried at the Evangelischer Friedhof Schmargendorf in Berlin, Germany.
