Nicolas Poussin was a famous French painter associated with Classicism and the French Baroque art movements of the 17th Century. He is best known for his landscapes, historical paintings, mythological scenes and religious paintings. Mini biography: Born Nicolas Poussin in June 1594 in Villers, Normandy, France. Poussin married Anne-Marie Dughet in 1630 and they had no children but he adopted his son-in-law: Gaspard Dughet. The artist died on the 19th of November, 1665 in Rome, Papal States (Italy) at the age of 71. Poussin is buried at the Basilica of Saint Lawrence in Lucina, Rome, Italy.
