Thomas Eakins is a famous American realist painter and photographer. He is best known for his portraits, nudes, landscapes and water scenes. He produced oil paintings, watercolors, photography, sculpture, and drawings. Mini biography: Born Thomas Cowperthwait Eakins on the 25th of July, 1844 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. His mother was Caroline Cowperthwait and his father Benjamin Eakins was a calligrapher. He was married to Susan Hannah Macdowell who was also an artist. The artist died on the 25th of June, 1916 at the age of 71. His fame as an artist came mostly posthumously. Eakins was buried in The Woodlands, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States of America.
