Thomas Gainsborough was a famous 18th century English painter and printmaker associated with the Rococo art movement. He is best known for his light palette, portraits of high society and his figures in landscapes. Mini biography: Born Thomas Gainsborough, he was baptized on the 14th of May, 1727 in Sudbury, Suffolk, England. His mother was Mary Burroughs and his father John Gainsborough was a weaver. Gainsborough married Margaret Burr in 1746 and they had two children: Mary and Margaret Gainsborough. The artist died on the 2nd of August, 1788 in London, England at the age of 61. Thomas Gainsborough is buried at the St Anne’s Church, Kew in Richmond, London, England, United Kingdom of Great Britain.
