Titian was a famous Venetian painter, muralist, draftsman and printmaker of the Renaissance in Italy. He is best known for his portraits, religious scenes, and for being a great colorist. Mini biography: Born Tiziano Vecelli or Vecellio in 1488/1490 (his exact birthdate is not known) in Pieve di Cadore, Republic of Venice (Italy). His mother was Lucia and his father Gregorio Vecellio was a superintendent of the castle of Pieve di Cadore. Titian married Cecilia Soldani in 1525 and they had two sons and a daughter who died in infancy. Cecilia died in 1530. He remarried but little is known of his second wife. The artist died on the 27th of August, 1576 in Venice, Republic of Venice (Italy) at the age of 87 or 88. Titian is buried at the Basilica S.Maria Gloriosa dei Frari, Venice, Italy.
